A 14m (45feet) high, stone pineapple which was designed as a garden retreat in 1732. Set in 16 acres of garden, woodlands and a pond.
Pineapples were grown in Scotland and were a popular feature of many gardens in the second half of the 18th Century. On the South side of the wall, pineapples grew in hothouses which were heated by furnaces. At this time, pineapples were among Scotland's most exotic foods.

A wide variety of unusual fruits and vegetables once grew in the extensive glasshouses and pineapple pits in the Pineapple's walled garden. The grounds feature abundant wildlife and you can enjoy a peaceful walk around the former curling pond and surrounding woodland.
