Welcome to North Third Cottages a secluded courtyard development of luxury self-catering cottages set in rural Stirlingshire.
North Third Cottages are a newly established family run business set in a truly stunning rural, yet central, Stirlingshire location. There are five luxury 1 and 2 bedroom courtyard cottages with incredible views across North Third Reservoir. Each cottage is named after birds we regularly see here - osprey, peregrine, kestrel, buzzard and barn owl.
North Third Cottages are perfectly located in the countyside where you can enjoy the peace and quiet, long walks straight from your front door or even casting a line in our fishery as the internationally renowned North Third Trout Fishery is right on your doorstep. As we own the fishing rights each cottage comes with a complimentary bank permit during the season. Although North Third Trout Fishery is currently closed you are still able to fish for wild brown trout. Please note that we are a fly fishing only water.
We have built the new cottages so that they form a farm courtyard that is in keeping with the area. The courtyard, which has a central raised planting area, is spacious and is kept car free at all times. There is dedicated parking to the side of the cottages.
Opened in April 2012, each of the five cottages are very spacious and furnished to a very high standard. The central heating is gas fired and all heating and electricity costs are included in the rental. If you require a starter pack of groceries we are happy to arrange this. We can also provide a cot, high chair and stair gates.
Each cottage comes with luxury linen and towels and, for that home from home feeling, we also provide slippers and bathrobes.
North Third Cottages are open all year round.
The cottages are available to book Saturday to Saturday although, depending on availability, we can also arrange short breaks.
Arrival is from 16:00 and departure is by 10:00

Osprey is a newly built single storey cottage offering very spacious accommodation for two people. The heated entrance porch is ideal to hang those outdoor clothes and we even provide slippers so that the outside stays outside and you can really feel at home.
There is a large open plan lounge and kitchen. The cosy lounge with dining area also has a 42" flat screen TV and blu-ray player and access to a large selection of DVDs and blu-rays. Iphone chargers are provided. The modern kitchen is spacious and fully equipped - washing machine/tumble drier, dishwasher, large fridge and separate freezer, microwave, gas hobs, electric oven and everything else you would expect.
The large master bedroom has a king sized bed with luxury linen and a top quality duvet. The family sized bathroom has a bath and a separate, large shower cubicle - and bathrobes for all.
Osprey has stunning loch side views with patio doors opening onto a private seating area where you can sit with your glass of something cold and literally watch the visiting ospreys or the setting sun that can light up the 300 foot high cliffs that frame the far side of the loch.
Peregrine Cottage is a fantastic two-storey conversion of the original fisherman's bothy with real character and stunning views across the loch to the 300 foot high cliffs that frame the far shoreline. This georgeous 2 bedroomed cottage sleeps 4. The L-shaped open-plan living room and kitchen offers cosy accommodation. The kitchen is bright and modern and comes fully equipped - washing machine/tumble drier, dishwasher, large fridge and separate freezer, microwave, gas hobs, electric oven and everything else you would expect. The living room is very comforatble and comes with a 42" flat screen TV along with a blu-ray player and access to a large selection of DVDs and blu-rays. Iphone chargers are also provided. The views from the living room are stunning and, being an old cottage, you can sit on the window sill and watch the world go by.
There's a downstairs family sized bathroom with a shower/bath - and bathrobes for all.
Both bedrooms are upstairs and again, offer stunning lochside views. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, luxury linen, a top quality duvet and a julliett balcony offering stunning views across the fields to the loch. The twin room is more compact but also comes with lochside views and both beds have top quality double sized duvets.
Kestrel Cottage is perfect for 2 people and is full of character. This two-storey conversion of the original fisherman's cottage has a heated entrance porch with lots of space for outdoor clothes. We provide slippers so that the outside stays outside and you can really feel at home.

There are washing facilities and secure storage for mountain bikes. If you are an angler then we offer free fly fishing for wild brown trout in our own 140 acre loch - and it's just at the bottom of the field.
There's a small common room where you can borrow DVDs, blu-rays, books and games. You'll also find lots of information on what to do in the area. We live "on-site" so are usually around if you need anything.
The stunning scenery and fantastic range of local activities makes staying at North Third Cottages a truly memorable experience. The walking in the immediate area is truly spectacular and offers the visitor easy access to one of Scotland's most accessible cliff top walks - right from your front door.
At North Third Cottages, you can enjoy the best of both worlds; the peace and quiet of the countryside or the hustle and bustle of the city as we are ideally situated with easy access to Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth. Although the setting is very peaceful and rural we are only 5 miles from the motorway junction. Better still, we are only 4.5 miles from Stirling and its great choice of restaurants, pubs, shops, cinema, theatre and arguably the best castle in Scotland.
Stirling really is a fantastic centre with something for all tastes. Best of all, nearly everything is open all year round and if you want to see the "big city lights" then Edinburgh and Glasgow are surprisingly quick and easy to get to for the day. All this means that North Third Cottages is the perfect destination, no matter which month of the year you want to come.
