antonine wall cottages - bonnybridge near stirling, scotland

Welcome to our two luxurious self-catering holiday properties. Converted from a listed 1820s stable block in 2004 and ideally situated near Stirling in the Heart of Scotland.

The cottages are set in 5 acres of private gardens and woodlands. Uniquely, the 2000 year old Antonine Wall runs directly through the grounds.

Scottish Tourist Board 4 star rating.

Sleep 4/6 each, 8/10 together from £340 per week.

Our splendid relaxation area includes an 8 seater top of the range hot springs tub, a private sauna with relaxation space, an indoor seating area with bar and kitchen and a wonderful 20 foot swimming pool heated to a very comfortable temperature everyday of the year.

Now you can swim anytime of the day or night in Scotland and enjoy our sauna, swimming pool or hot tub in complete privacy.

We also have a lovely play area for children with a giant trampoline, swings, slide, climbing ropes and sandpits, and there are picnic benches for you to sit on and barbeques to borrow.

Internally, the cottages are light, bright, white and modern while retaining lots of original features such as the 4 foot wide walls and striking double-height ceilings with the hay door and dove cote replaced by double glazed windows.

There are 2 double bedrooms in Hayloft. Doocot has a double and a triple bedroom with 3 single beds and there is also a very comfortable futon-bed in the lounge. We can convert the twin bedded room in Doocot to a superking bed if required. All beds have orthopedic mattresses and good quality cotton bed linens.

Doocot cottage is a bit bigger than Hayloft and is ideal for families with children as it overlooks the play area and woods.

Hayloft is perfect for one or two couples or a small family, nature lovers will like it as it overlooks a wood filled with squirrels and birds.

Antonine Wall Cottages are ideally situated, being only 30 minutes by car or train from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. Alternatively you can visit Stirling with its Castle and the Wallace Monument, the Trossachs, Loch Lomond, St Andrews, Perth or New Lanark all within one hours drive.

Just next door is the Historic Scotland site of Rough Castle, the best preserved Roman fort on the Wall and well worth exploring. Walking on a little further along the Antonine Wall through newly established woodland paths will bring to you the Falkirk Wheel, the only rotating boat lift in the world and a wonderful day out

Getting Here

From Edinburgh or Edinburgh airport take the M9 towards Stirling, just past Falkirk take the turnoff onto the M876 (signposted ‘Glasgow’) and then follow the signs for Bonnybridge.

From Glasgow or Glasgow airport take the M8 Northwards and again follow signs for Bonnybridge.

When you arrive in Bonnybridge follow the signs for Rough Castle and High Bonnybridge, turn into Bonnyside Road, follow the road for about a mile – it will become a single track road, drive over the railway bridge and turn left at the large gates marked Bonnyside House.

The cottages are to the left of our house and we will be around to welcome you.
