NEW AIR CONDITIONED VEHICLE

The best way to experience Scotland is in a small group and Derek, your driver/guide, is a native Scot who has a passion for his country. His wide knowledge and experience sets Claymore Travel apart from the rest.

You will learn more about Scotland's turbulent history in one day with Derek than you could possibly discover travelling on your own. An interesting and informative commentary on Scotland's History, Culture, landscape, Wildlife etc. is provided as you travel.

We specialise in getting off the beaten track and our comfortable, air conditioned minibus enables us to get into the more remote areas where bigger buses cannot get to. We have been in the tour business since 1996 and would be happy to provide references from some of our satisfied customers.

A guided day tour by mini-bus, provides a great introduction to Historic Stirling, to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park or to a variety of locations throughout Scotland.
Guided mini-bus tours are available throughout the year for independent travellers and private groups.

Historic Stirling, the Roman Wall and Falkirk Wheel
£29/person 7 hours approx.

Listen to the fascinating story of Stirling in the company of a local guide as we walk in the company of a local guide through the cobbled streets of the old medieval town. Stirling was the key to the Kingdom, to hold Stirling was to control Scotland and inevitably the great struggle for independence took place here with the Battles of Stirling Bridge in 1297 and Bannockburn in 1314. We visit these Historic Battlefields, the Castle, the Wallace Monument and the Church of the Holyrood where King James the 6th was crowned in 1567. We also discuss the Roman invasion of Scotland and visit the ‘Antonine Wall’(site of). And then have a look at a modern engineering marvel with a brief visit to the ‘Falkirk Wheel’, the only rotating boatlift in the world.

(Entrance to visitor attractions is optional and is not included in the price)

Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park
£35/person 7hours

The spectacular scenery of this area has inspired writers, poets and artists for centuries. Whether your interest is in scenery, history or wildlife you will find it here in abundance. Come with us and stroll by the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, walk in the footsteps of Rob Roy McGregor, hear about the Highland Clan System, early settlers, raiders and invaders.

On the return journey we stop at Doune Castle, the setting for 'Monty Python and The Holy Grail' and the BBC production of 'Ivanhoe'.

(This very popular tour is an excellent introduction to Scotland's history and operates regularly from Stirling in the Summer).

Inveraray and The West Highlands

Travelling west via Loch Lomond and across the 'rest and be thankful' pass into Argyll we arrive at Inveraray. We allow time to visit the Castle, the old jail or enjoy a leisurely lunch and browse around this charming 18th century town situated on the shores of Loch Fyne.
We then travel on to Loch Awe viewing Kilchurn Castle on our return to Stirling via Crianlarich.

Highland Glens
£40/person 8hours

Our route takes us via Crieff and the Sma Glen to Aberfeldy. We then travel along Loch Tayside viewing a number of interesting sites including the alleged birthplace of Pontius Pilate, a Crannog, and the oldest tree in Europe.

This is an area of green rolling hills and picturesque villages. It also has a turbulent history of border warfare with England, on one occasion the people of Hawick burned the town themselves rather than give the English the satisfaction.

Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands

We carry on to Fort Augustas which nestles at the foot of Loch Ness. Here you can enjoy lunch and have a boat trip or just stroll by the lochside always keeping your camera handy in case Nessie makes an appearance.
